Eric Anderson, a metals/manufacturing instructor at Central High School in Salem, Wisconsin, could not have been more pleased with his school’s recent renovation of their dated technology education building. In a time of frequent budget cuts, the fact that the original building – built around 1970 – now had up-to-code electrical and plumbing and new paint and flooring was a bright spot on the school’s campus.
Anderson said the education building hosts classes in 3D modeling, graphics, engineering, gaming design, wood manufacturing, machining and welding. “The 32,000 square-foot building features the instructional space and labs that give students the best experience possible,” Anderson said. He added the infrastructure was now at a level required to teach a modern manufacturing program.
Anderson said the Central High School manufacturing program had implemented 5S Kaizen Continuous Improvement practices and is constantly seeking products and tools to help students get real-world experience with the organization practice.
“Keeping with the concept of continuous improvement, I knew we’d be changing the shop floor as we made improvements or gained new equipment. I decided I definitely didn’t want to paint walkways and wanted the flexibility afforded by InSite Solution’s Superior Mark™ tape,” Anderson said.
He found stop-painting.com online and after the company sent him some samples, Anderson quickly concluded Superior Mark™ tape and its durable quality were the top tier products available to meet the goals in his shop. The goals included:
Clearly defined walkways.
Identification for welding, saw cutting, overhead crane areas, scrap location, SDS binder, first aid kit location and garbage cans.

The SDS binder is marked by a pre-cut floor marking kit featuring Superior Mark tape and a floor sign.
Defined area for electrical panels and instructions for students not to block them.
A floor marking system that would separate the shop area from the instructional area.
Reminder for students to wear eye protection.
InSite Solutions Owner and Director Cliff Lowe was impressed with the progress the school manufacturing program had made and agreed to donate a significant amount of products to the school to make sure students are trained with the best visual cue products available.
“In addition to the fact we want to help keep these kids safe and efficient in their learning environment, hopefully these kids will be running shop floors and plant floors in the future and they’ll remember stop-painting.com products,” Lowe said.
Anderson said the difference stop-painting.com products made was evident immediately. “Students have a much more defined work space and walkways are always clear. We have a much better visual learning environment now,” Anderson said.
